How to set up Gmail in Load Manager TMS
To use a Gmail address to send emails through Load Manager, you need to create an App Password in your Google account and enter it as your SMTP password. This is required by Google for third-party app access.
Note: These steps apply to personal @gmail.com accounts. If your organization uses Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), your Google administrator will need to enable App Passwords for your account before you can complete this setup.
Step 1 — Enable Two-Step Verification
- Log in to your Google Account.
- Click Security in the left panel.
- Find the Two-Step Verification section and confirm it is turned on. If it is not, click the arrow to begin setup and follow the prompts.
Note: Two-Step Verification must be active before App Passwords become available.
Step 2 — Create an App Password
- Once Two-Step Verification is on, return to the Security page.
- Click on Two-Step Verification, then scroll to the bottom of the page to find App Passwords. If you do not see it, search "app password" in the Google Account search bar at the top of the page.
- Click App Passwords.
- In the Select App dropdown, choose Other (Custom name).
- Enter Load Manager TMS as the name and click Generate.
- Copy the 16-character password that appears on screen. There are no spaces in the password — ignore the visual gaps shown on screen.
Step 3 — Enter Your Settings in Load Manager
- In Load Manager, go to the Users tab and open your user profile.
- Enter your Gmail address in the Email and SMTP Username fields.
- Enter the 16-character App Password in the SMTP Password field. Remove any spaces if they appear after pasting.
- Set SMTP Server Address to:
smtp.gmail.com
- Set SMTP Port to:
465
- Select SSL.
- Check Verify SMTP Settings.
- Click Save.
If the settings are valid, you will see a confirmation message. If you receive an error, confirm there are no spaces in the App Password and that all fields match the settings above.
