DAT Equipment Codes Reference
Before You Use This Article
- Access needed: DAT Load Board enabled on your Load Manager account. If you do not see the option, it may not be enabled for your account.

DAT uses equipment type codes, also called equipment abbreviations, when searching for trucks or posting loads. Use DAT's current equipment reference when you need to confirm the correct code for a van, reefer, flatbed, power-only, sprinter van, box truck, or other equipment type.
Before you start: DAT Load Board must be enabled for your account. Applies to Freight Broker and Dispatch Service accounts.

How to Use DAT Codes in Load Manager
- Confirm the correct equipment type or abbreviation in DAT's reference.
- In Load Manager, make sure the equipment type is set up in your equipment list.
- When building or posting a load, choose the matching equipment type.
- If DAT rejects a posting or the equipment does not match as expected, compare the Load Manager equipment setup with DAT's current code list.

When to Check the DAT List
- You are adding a new equipment type in Load Manager.
- A DAT load posting is not using the equipment type you expected.
- DAT returns an equipment-related posting error.
- You need to confirm whether a specialized equipment type has its own DAT code.

Troubleshooting
- The code works in DAT but not in Load Manager: Check the equipment setup in Load Manager and confirm the equipment type is active.
- The load posts with the wrong equipment: Review the equipment selected on the load and compare it to DAT's current equipment reference.
- The DAT reference has changed: Use DAT as the source of truth, then update the related Load Manager equipment setup if needed.
