Add Weight to a Load

Before You Use This Article

Use this article when you need to enter the weight for a load in Load Manager TMS. Weight can be entered as an overall load value, and, when enabled in settings, it can also be entered by commodity row in the Commodities and Accessorials table.

Where Weight Can Be Entered

Open the load from All Loads or My Loads, or click Add Load to create a new load.

Load screen where weight can be entered

Depending on your company settings, you may see one or both of these weight entry options:

  • Total weight: Use this for the overall weight of the load.
  • Commodity weight: Use this when you need to enter weight for a specific commodity or accessorial row.

Add Total Weight

  1. Open the load.
  2. Find the load-level Weight field.
  3. Enter the total load weight.
  4. Save the load.

Add Weight by Commodity Row

If your company tracks weight by commodity, use the Wt(lbs) column in the Commodities and Accessorials table.

  1. Open the load.
  2. Scroll to the Commodities and Accessorials table.
  3. Add a new row, or update an existing row.
  4. Enter the Qty, Type, and any needed description.
  5. Enter the row weight in the Wt(lbs) field.
  6. Save the load.

If You Do Not See the Wt(lbs) Column

The commodity weight column is controlled by a configuration setting. If the column is missing, an administrator can turn it on.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open Configuration Options.
  3. Find the Commodity Weight option.
  4. Turn the option on.
  5. Save the settings, then return to the load.

How Commodity Weight Is Used

When commodity weight is enabled, the Wt(lbs) value is saved with that commodity or accessorial row. Commodity rows with weight entered can appear on documents such as the Rate Confirmation or Dispatch Report, depending on the document settings and the other details entered on the row.

Troubleshooting

  • I do not see the Wt(lbs) column: Ask an administrator to turn on Commodity Weight in Settings > Configuration Options.
  • I entered total weight, but not commodity weight: Total weight and row-level commodity weight are separate fields. Enter commodity weight in the Wt(lbs) column if you need it tied to a specific row.
  • The commodity row is not showing on a document: Confirm the row has the needed commodity details and that the document settings allow commodity/accessorial rows to display.
