  • Use this article when: your Load Manager account has DirectFreight enabled and you are setting up or troubleshooting that connection. Company paths that commonly use this article: Freight Brokers or Dispatch Services.
  • Use a different article when: you do not use this integration or feature; return to the company path that matches your current workflow: Freight Brokers, Carriers, Owner-Operators, and Trucking Companies, or Dispatch Services.

Use this article when your company has a Direct Freight account and wants to post loads to DirectFreight from Load Manager. DirectFreight credentials are saved on the user profile for the Load Manager user who will post loads.

Before you start: DirectFreight must be enabled for your account. Applies to Freight Broker and Dispatch Service accounts.

Before You Start

  • Confirm your company has an active Direct Freight account.
  • Get the Direct Freight username and password that should be used for posting from Load Manager.
  • Make sure you can edit the user profile for the person who will post loads.
  • Do not email load board passwords in plain text. If support needs to help, they can provide the safest way to share or reset credentials.

Open the User Profile

  1. Sign in to Load Manager.
  2. Go to the User tab.
  3. Find the user who should be able to post loads to DirectFreight.
  4. Select the user's login name to open the user profile.

How Default Posting Works

Default Posting controls whether DirectFreight is selected automatically in the load board posting workflow. The checkbox becomes available only after the DirectFreight Load Board checkbox is selected and the username and password fields are filled in.

You can still choose whether an individual load should be posted to DirectFreight when working with that load.

What Happens When You Save

When you save the user profile, Load Manager verifies the DirectFreight credentials. If the login cannot be verified, the DirectFreight integration is not kept active for that user. Recheck the username, password, and Direct Freight account status before saving again.

Post a Load to DirectFreight

  1. Create or open the load you want to post.
  2. Review the pickup, delivery, equipment, rate, and contact information.
  3. Select the DirectFreight posting option if it is not already selected by default.
  4. Save or update the load using your normal posting workflow.
  5. Review any success or error message shown by Load Manager.

If DirectFreight rejects the post, review the message and confirm the load has the required details. Equipment type is a common item to check, especially if your equipment records do not have DirectFreight codes set up.

Troubleshooting

  • DirectFreight is not visible: Confirm your Load Manager account uses load board posting and that you are editing the correct user profile. Carrier or trucking company accounts may not have the same load board setup options.
  • Default Posting is disabled: Select DirectFreight Load Board and enter both the username and password first.
  • The setting does not stay active after saving: The credentials may not have verified. Confirm the Direct Freight username and password, then save again.
  • The load does not post: Check the load details, equipment type, dates, pickup and delivery information, and any message returned by DirectFreight.
  • The equipment type is rejected: Add or correct the DirectFreight code on the equipment record, then try posting again.
