Driver Web App with Mobile Dispatch

Before You Use This Article

The Driver Web App lets you send dispatch details to a driver through a phone browser link. The driver does not need to download an app. After opening the link, the driver can review the load, share GPS location, upload documents, update status, and record stop activity from the mobile web page.

Use this option when you want a simple driver-facing dispatch workflow that works from a phone browser such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge.

When to Use the Driver Web App

  • Use it when a driver needs load details but does not use the Locate My Freight mobile app.
  • Use it when you want a browser-based link sent by email or text message.
  • Use it when drivers need to upload PODs, photos, or other load documents from their phone.
  • Use it when you want drivers to send GPS location updates or select allowed load statuses from the mobile screen.

Before You Begin

  • The load should already be created and saved.
  • The carrier or driver information should be entered on the load.
  • The driver email address or cell phone number should be available if you plan to send the link by email or text.
  • Your Mobile Dispatch settings must include the Web App option.
  • If you send the link by text, texting must be enabled for your Load Manager account.

Role Notes by TMS Type

The Driver Web App is used by all Load Manager setups, but the place where you select the driver or carrier depends on your account type.

TMS Type How It Applies
Freight Broker Select the carrier on the load. The driver's email or cell phone may be saved as a carrier contact.
Dispatch Service Select the carrier on the load. Dispatch Services use dispatch reports instead of rate confirmations.
Carrier / Trucking Company Select the driver from the Driver area of the load. Carrier and trucking accounts use dispatch reports for drivers.

Turn On the Web App Option

  1. Go to Settings >> Configuration Options.
  2. Find the Mobile Dispatch or Mobile App Type setting.
  3. Select an option that includes Web App.
  4. Click Save.

  1. Open the load from My Loads, All Loads, or the Dispatch Board.

  4. Click Mobile Dispatch.
  5. Select Web App as the mobile dispatch option.
  6. Use the Email tab or the Text tab to send the link to the driver.

What the Driver Sees

When the driver receives the email or text, they open the link from their phone. The driver may be asked to enter their name and agree before viewing the dispatch details.

  2. The driver selects the document upload option.
  3. The driver chooses a photo or file from their phone.

Use Web App with MacroPoint

If your account uses MacroPoint, your Mobile Dispatch setting may include Web App with MacroPoint. This sends the driver-facing Web App link while also supporting MacroPoint tracking behavior based on your account setup.

If you only want MacroPoint tracking and do not want the Driver Web App workflow, use the MacroPoint-only option instead.

Troubleshooting

  • The driver did not receive the link: Confirm the email address or cell phone number is correct on the load, carrier contact, or driver profile.
  • The Text tab is not available or the text does not send: Confirm texting is enabled for your Load Manager account.
  • The driver cannot open the link: Send a fresh Mobile Dispatch link and confirm the driver is opening it from a phone browser with an active data connection.
  • A status does not appear: Confirm the status is enabled for the mobile web app under Settings >> Load Status.
  • GPS does not update: Confirm the driver allowed location access in the phone browser.
  • A document does not upload: Confirm the driver selected the file or photo and completed the upload from the mobile page.
